My Sample Lesson 1

Grade Level: 7 Subject: Science
Introduction
Nature is the best school where one can learn, and explore for free. A video camera can be usedto capture so many wonderful breathtaking footages of animals, insects, birds etc. This assignment is to take a video of a life cycle of a butterfly. Who doesn’t like to see a carefree butterfly’s origin?

Task
Students will present at a three minute video about the life cycle of a butterfly starting from the egg, to the formation of a caterpillar and then to a complete butterfly. You will be given a month to complete it. We will be visiting the butterfly botanicals to do the assignment.

Process
Students will form a group of four, each playing a role of a director, a camera person, an editor,and a reporter.
Each group will get together and write a story board/script and present it to me on the next class. I will go through it and give corrections if necessary.
The director’s role is to help and see that everything is included while video taping. A reporter must explain and report each scene. The camera person must be thorough with all the buttons in the video camera.
You will have to take a short segment video of each cycle (10 or 15 seconds) and the whole video should be of three minutes.
I will be going through the video cassette and will give a comment to each group before you edit your video.



Evaluation
You will be graded based on your knowledge of proper editing, sequence, use of transition and the presentation. This assignment grade will be added with your final grade under “lab”.
