My Philosophy of Teaching

I always believed that after the birth mother, a teacher took the place in a child's life as a second mother or as i would like to say with much respect an adoptive parent. Just like a birth mother cares for her children and teaches them how to say "mama" or how to eat, a teacher imparts her knowledge for her students. After 3 years of age, a child does spend most of his/her time under the supervision and care of a teacher. Here, the child learns to pronouce words, count numbers, read a paragraph or more, write a poem or learn about their homeland. I just gave only a few examples of an accomplishment of a child because of a great teacher. There are several roles of teacher in education. Firstly, a teacher must love his/her profession in order to assist and provide a warm environment to the students. For a kindergarten student, the first few days or weeks in the classroom is the most difficult time because they are away from their home. I believe a teacher’s role in such cases is to give them love, care, and try to form a safe and pleasant atmosphere. A teacher’s comment has a huge impact on the students. If the teacher criticizes the student for every mistake they make, the student will lose their self-esteem. I believe that teachers are responsible for the social behavior in the classroom. Also, a teacher must be well prepared everyday for her class, and must not be only a reader from the textbook. I always believe that when the teacher shows respect, she gains back respect back from the students.

Mathematics ,especially the school math, has always inspired me in my every day life. Our age, birthdate, clock timings, number of candies we stole, pennies, etc all starts and ends with numbers. They all involve basic math that always comes in handy for the rest of our life. We use math in everything we speak and see. Learning addition and subtraction has made buying and selling so much easy. Nowadays,i like rectangular plates over round ones. Had i not learnt what round or circle looks like,i would never have been able to find my choices. Cooking is one of my passion where i get to use math as much as possible. Baking a cake for example, needs 2 eggs, one cup water and one cup oil along with a bag of readymade cake mix. Language of math is numbers. If you can be well versed in this language of numbers, it can help you perform the every day tasks. Mathematics is the only language shared by all human beings regardless of their culture, native tongue,or job status.
